Skill by Dryden Goodwin is a 12 part film focused on his encounters with 12 local people from East Durham. Each person has a hands-on specialist skill, ranging from tattooing, to wood-turning to horse training. Goodwin's film encapsulates the drawings he made observing each person at their work, recording the conversations as part of an atmospheric soundtrack.
Skill reveals surprising connections and kinships between the participants and their endeavours. The film is a celebration of dexterity, passion and commitment, capturing a shared deftness of hand and mind, as they transform the materials they work with, conjured through the medium of Goodwin's intricate drawings.
